Kimberly J. Stormer, Ph.D.

Principal

Kimberly J. Stormer, Ph.D. began her career in education as a high school English teacher in Lawton, Oklahoma. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Instructional Leadership and Academic Curriculum, with a specialization in English Education, from the University of Oklahoma. Following the completion of her doctorate, Dr. Stormer dedicated seven years to higher education. She served as Middle School Program Coordinator at both Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, and Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. She concluded her tenure in higher education as Chair of the Department of Education at Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma. In the fall of 2022, Dr. Stormer relocated to Houston, Texas, where she returned to K–12 education. She began teaching eighth grade English at Fleming Middle School before transitioning to ninth grade English at Wheatley High School. Eventually, she was promoted to Assistant Principal at Wheatley High School. She later served at McReynolds Middle School before being appointed Principal of Shadydale Elementary.

Dr. Deandra Steele

Assistant Principal

Dr. DeAndra Steele is a dedicated educator and native of Moss Point, Mississippi. Her passion for education began in high school when she tutored elementary students in an after-school program. She began her professional teaching career in 2013 as a Kindergarten teacher’s assistant before moving into the classroom as a 7th-grade history teacher. Over the years, Dr. Steele has taught Middle School Social Studies and English Language Arts, served as an Academic Interventionist, and currently serves as an Assistant Principal at a K–5 elementary school. Dr. Steele earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Mississippi State University and completed her master’s, specialist, and doctoral degrees in Educational Leadership at William Carey University. In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, watching football, reading, and listening to music.
